Tinubu reaffirms diplomatic engagement, vows to defeat terrorism

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to global diplomatic engagement and national stability, saying Nigeria remains firmly on the path of growth and recovery as ongoing economic reforms continue to yield positive results.

Speaking on Thursday at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja after swearing in two new ministers, the President said the nation’s recent economic strides, including the oversubscription of Nigeria’s $2.3 billion Eurobond by 400%, reflect increasing global confidence in the country’s economy.

The newly sworn-in ministers are Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, who now heads the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN), who takes charge of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.

“The most important thing is that despite political headwinds and fears among our people, we will continue to engage with our partners,” President Tinubu said. “The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond is most assuring. The task ahead is immense, but we are engaging the world diplomatically and we will defeat terrorism in this country.”

The President stressed that his administration remains focused on the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as a blueprint for building “a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient Nigeria.”

Addressing the country’s security challenges, President Tinubu urged Nigerians not to lose hope, assuring that the Federal Government would continue to strengthen efforts to defeat terrorism and criminality nationwide.

“Do we have problems? Yes. Are we challenged by terrorism? Yes. But we will defeat terrorism. We will overcome the CPC designation. Nigeria is one happy family, and we shall spare no effort until we eliminate all criminals from our society,” he said.

The President also charged ministers and government officials to maintain consistency in their communication to avoid mixed messaging, emphasizing unity of purpose in implementing government policies.

Tinubu reiterated that his administration would continue to seek international cooperation in addressing security and economic challenges, while ensuring that Nigerians benefit from the dividends of reform and good governance.
