President Bola Tinubu has approved the renewal of Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje’s appointment as Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for a second and final five-year term.
Bugaje, first appointed on March 14, 2021, was reappointed after what the Presidency described as a thorough assessment of his performance, leadership qualities, and the reforms recorded in the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector under his watch.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President noted that Bugaje had overseen significant progress in the country’s TVET ecosystem.
These achievements include the strategic restructuring of the TVET landscape, comprehensive curriculum upgrades, and the development and review of 100 national curricula aligned with global skills needs.
The statement added that the successes were in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the education sector.
Tinubu urged Bugaje to build on the momentum of his first term by consolidating ongoing reforms and completing key initiatives already in progress.
The renewed appointment takes effect immediately.
