Tinubu returns from UK, to spend Sallah break in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his official state visit to the United Kingdom, with plans to spend the Sallah holiday in Lagos.

Tinubu arrived early Friday alongside First Lady Remi Tinubu.

His spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the President would observe the festive break in Lagos.

“President Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu are heading for Lagos for the Sallah,” Onanuga wrote on X.

During his visit to the UK, Tinubu called for deeper trade and economic cooperation between both countries, stressing the importance of strengthening longstanding bilateral relations through increased investment and commercial partnerships.

A key engagement of the trip was his meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where discussions focused on economic reforms, global challenges, security, and climate change.

Tinubu described the visit as “very thrilling and significant,” noting that Nigeria is undergoing major economic reforms and must work closely with international partners to improve citizens’ welfare.

One of the major outcomes of the visit was the signing of a £746 million agreement aimed at modernising infrastructure at the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports in Lagos.
