Tinubu sacks NCC, NIGCOMSAT, NIPOST CEOs

…renews NITDA, NDPC’s MDs appointments

President Bola Tinubu has sacked and renewed the appointments of Chief Executives of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

The president has removed the EVC/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta.

In Danbatta’s place, President Tinubu has appointed Aminu Maida as the new EVC/CEO of NCC.

Danbatta was reappointed for a five-year second term in July 2020.

The President also terminated the appointment of Tukur Mohammed Lawal as MD/CEO of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT).

Nkechi Egerton-Idehen is the new MD/CEO of NIGCOMSAT.

Also affected with the shake-up is the Postmaster General /CEO of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Hon. Adepoju Adeyemi Sunday, who has been relieved of his appointment.

Tola Odeyemi is the new Postmaster General /CEO of NIPOST.

Meanwhile, the President has renewed the appointment of Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi as DG /CEO of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Also, the appointment of Dr. Vincent Olatunji as National Commissioner /CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) was renewed by the President.

Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement made available to The Star, on Wednesday stated that a Special Adviser to the President on Technology and Digital Economy, Idris Alubankudi, has been appointed.

“In line with President Bola Tinubu’s determination to maximally leverage on Nigeria’s proven technological and digital economic prowess to reposition the nation’s economy toward greater financial inclusion, the President has approved the appointment of a new Special Adviser to the President,” Ngelale said.

The appointments take immediate effect.
