Tinubu vows to strengthen security, salutes armed forces’ sacrifices

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to tackling insecurity across the country, describing national security as the “foundation of peace and progress.”

Speaking during a special address to a joint session of the National Assembly in commemoration of Democracy Day, President Tinubu highlighted intensified security operations aimed at reclaiming communities from the grip of terrorists and criminal elements.

“We have intensified security operations to reclaim communities from criminals and terrorists.

“We are better at coordinating intelligence, and inter-agency cooperation has improved.

“Our highways are safer,” Tinubu stated, noting increased investment in security technology and training.

He acknowledged the critical role played by the Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and democracy, paying tribute to their bravery and selfless dedication.

“As we celebrate the progress of our democracy, we must not forget the pivotal role they play in safeguarding our freedoms,” he said, calling for continued national support and recognition for military personnel.

The president also emphasized the broader reforms aimed at ensuring a safer environment for economic growth and national development, including structural economic changes and digital transformation.

Security analysts have welcomed the president’s remarks but urged swift and sustained action to ensure that promises are translated into real improvements on the ground, especially in communities still vulnerable to attacks.

With Tinubu placing national security at the heart of his administration’s agenda, Nigerians await tangible results that will restore peace and stability across all regions of the country.
