The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, has threatened to lead a protest over the outcome of the recent primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, alleging that the process was manipulated in favour of a faction within the party.
Tinubu-Ojo, who is also a daughter of President Bola Tinubu, made the remarks during a meeting with market leaders and stakeholders at her office in Alausa, Ikeja.
She specifically questioned the results announced for Mushin Federal Constituency II, Agege Constituency II, and Ojokoro, insisting that the outcomes did not reflect the will of party members.
The Lagos APC had earlier released a list of candidates who emerged from its House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. The list, signed by the state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, indicated that 24 candidates secured House of Representatives tickets, while 40 candidates emerged for the State Assembly.
However, Tinubu-Ojo alleged that some results were altered, citing the cases of Seye Oladejo (Mushin Constituency II), Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo (Agege II), and Olotu Ojo (Ojokoro), whom she claimed were the rightful winners.
“We are ready to protest because we know they won this election. Their mandates should not be given to somebody else,” she said.
She called on APC leaders at both state and national levels to investigate the disputed primaries before ratifying the results, warning that unresolved grievances could deepen internal divisions within the party.
Tinubu-Ojo also raised concerns over factional rivalry within the party, particularly between the Justice Forum and the Mandate Group, alleging that internal structures were being influenced along factional lines.
She warned that such divisions could undermine party unity ahead of the 2027 elections, urging leaders to address the situation urgently.
Reaffirming support for the governorship ambition of Obafemi Hamzat, she stressed that market women remain a vital political constituency in Lagos and deserve greater inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.
