Tiwa Savage: Only my son has shown me true love

Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has opened up about her struggles with love, revealing that the only deep and genuine love she has ever felt is the bond she shares with her son, Jamil.

In a candid interview, the award-winning singer said she often mistook infatuation for love in her past relationships.

“I don’t think I’ve been loved for a very long time.

“Apart from my son, I haven’t experienced true love. Looking back, what I thought was love was just infatuation,” she admitted.

Despite multiple attempts to find a soulmate, Tiwa confessed she has yet to experience that special connection.

“I’ve tried over and over again, but I don’t think love is for me in this lifetime,” she said.

The singer, known for her bold personality, also revealed the most daring thing she has done for love — showing up at a man’s house unannounced — adding that she might not be as “savage” as many think.

Speaking about her current state of mind, Tiwa described herself as entering a “phoenix era” — a period of personal reinvention after overcoming challenges in love, heartbreak, and life in general.

“I’ve gone through the fire, and I’m just getting out of it.

“I’m coming out stronger,” she declared.

Over her decade-long career, the mother of one has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrities, with her personal life often making headlines alongside her musical success.
