Train crushes man to death in Lagos

A yet-to-be-identified man has been confirmed dead after he was hit by a train on a railway track in Lagos State.

The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Monday, August 26, 2024.

LASEMA, in a statement issued by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said it responded to a distress call about a train accident along the railway line opposite Cappa in Lagos at about 6 p.m. on Monday.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated: “Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, an adult male walking along the railway track was found dead after being hit by an oncoming train.

“Further investigations revealed that the yet-to-be-identified, half-dressed adult male, died immediately on the railway track, due to the impact of the collision.

“Remains of the adult male have been bagged by the agency’s response team while awaiting arrival of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit officials for onward movement to the morgue.”
