Transfer: Dortmund sign Jobe Bellingham as Chelsea walk away from Maignan deal

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of English midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland.

Dortmund announced the signing on Tuesday, the final day of the Club World Cup transfer window. This comes five years after the club signed Jobe’s brother, Jude.

The deal is worth an initial £27.8 million (€33 million) and includes a 15 per cent sell-on clause. It is the highest transfer fee the newly-promoted Premier League club have received.

Chelsea have walked away from a potential deal to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The Blues were offered the France international, and they valued him at between €10 million (£8.46 million) and €15 million (£12.7 million).

But Chelsea never made an official bid for the 29-year-old goalkeeper, and they refused to consider paying more than their valuation for a player who has just one year left on his AC Milan contract.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have offered Borussia Dortmund £42 million for Jamie Gittens on Tuesday afternoon.

Gittens has told Dortmund he wants to leave. He wants to play for Chelsea at the Club World Cup instead of Dortmund, Sky Sports reported.

Kieran Tierney has signed a five-year deal with Scottish champions Celtic following his exit from Arsenal.

Despite reports from Spain linking with a move to Real Madrid, Martin Zubimendi is expected to have a medical soon at Arsenal ahead of completing his move from Real Sociedad.

Arsenal have an agreement in principle on all other aspects of the deal – including the £51 million release clause and personal terms on a long-term contract.
