Troops ambush Boko Haram logistics convoy, kills 21 fighters in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army serving under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully intercepted and engaged a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics convoy in Borno State, leading to the death of 21 insurgents.

According to a statement shared on the Army’s official X account on Sunday, the military acted on credible intelligence that more than 100 terrorists were assembling near the Sojiri and Kayamla communities to both launch attacks on local towns and move supplies to their camps.

Working closely with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local vigilantes, the troops moved quickly to intercept the group. Contact was made around midday, sparking a heavy and sustained firefight.

The military said the insurgents attempted a rear-flanking maneuver, but the soldiers repelled it with superior firepower before continuing deeper into the forest to confirm enemy losses.

In addition to the neutralised fighters, several others are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.

The Army also recovered numerous items from the scene, including bicycles, assorted food and logistics materials, drugs and medical supplies, clothing, torchlights, bicycle tyres, various weapons, and ammunition.

The statement noted that follow-up operations were ongoing to identify further enemy casualties and recover additional equipment.

The troops were described as being in high morale, and the operation was highlighted as an example of the effectiveness of intelligence-led joint security efforts in degrading insurgent networks and disrupting their supply lines.
