Troops arrest 14 suspects in cordon-and-search raid in Borno

Troops under Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested 14 individuals during a cordon-and-search operation in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Military sources said the operation was carried out by personnel of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade following credible intelligence on the movements of a suspected terrorist and kidnap kingpin identified as Baba Ali.

According to the sources, troops stormed Ngurosoye village at about 2:20 p.m. on March 25 after tracking the suspect through intercepted communications.

Although Baba Ali’s arrest was not confirmed as at the time of the operation, troops apprehended 14 suspects found at the location.

They also recovered two bags of fertiliser believed to be intended for unlawful purposes.

The suspects have been transferred into military custody for further interrogation and necessary action.
