Troops arrest 6 terrorist logistics suppliers, recover Starlink device, bags of rice in Borno

The troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered a cache of materials believed to be intended for insurgents during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State.

The acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, made this known via a statement issued on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Goni said the operation conducted at about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, targeted a suspected terrorist supply route as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle logistics networks sustaining insurgent activities in the North-East.

Goni disclosed that the suspects were intercepted while travelling in five vehicles allegedly transporting a large consignment of items believed to be destined for terrorists.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing a suspected acidic substance, one Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.

The army spokesman said preliminary investigations revealed that the items have potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, communications, mobility, and sustainment.

Goni added that the recovered fertilisers and suspected acid would undergo forensic and technical analysis to determine whether they were intended for the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

“The six suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for comprehensive investigation to establish the intended recipients, identify the wider logistics network, and facilitate the apprehension of other collaborators and sponsors,” Goni said.
