Troops arrest 8 Boko Haram terrorists, 2 female kidnapper’s informants

The troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 10 suspects, comprising eight Boko Haram terrorists and two female kidnapper’s informants, in Taraba State.

The Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations of 6 Brigade, Capt. Olubodunde Oni, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Oni stated: “Acting swiftly on reliable intelligence, troops of the brigade on September 29, 2024, conducted a raid on the residence of one of the terrorist leaders Tukura Abdul-Kareem in Sunkani Ward of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area.

“This operation resulted in the arrest of Abdul-Kareem and seven additional suspects, who had travelled from various states to join the terror cell.

“Investigation revealed that the eight Boko Haram terrorists were planning to establish a camp within Taraba, with the intention of launching Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks on innocent individuals and critical facilities.

“Abdul-Kareem also confessed to have joined Boko Haram with his brother Adamu Abdul-Kareem, who is still in the bush with other terrorists in an unknown area.

“Items recovered from the suspects include nine mobile phones, identity cards, wraps of controlled items suspected to be Marijuana and other hard drugs.”

The army director noted that the troops, in a separate operation on Monday, September 30, arrested two female informants linked to high-profile kidnapping syndicates at Chachanji village in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Oni added: “These individuals are known to have provided vital information to kidnappers, who have been aiding a wanted notorious criminal known as Anyogo and his gang with information on the activities of troops within the area.

“The two are responsible for identifying businessmen with money to be robbed or kidnapped for ransom.

“The two suspects namely Patience Tersoo and Joy Emmanuel are believed to be Anyogo’s wife and sister, respectively.

“Items recovered from the suspects include one mobile phone, one Super Core motorcycle, and a calabash.”
