Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested suspected criminals believed to be responsible for a series of covert killings that have unsettled communities across parts of Plateau State.
Security sources said the arrests followed a sustained wave of intelligence-driven operations and stop-and-search exercises deployed across identified flashpoints within Jos metropolis and surrounding communities.
According to the sources, the suspects were allegedly involved in targeted killings carried out in isolated areas, typically under the cover of darkness — a pattern that had earned the attacks the grim description of “silent killings.”
Weapons and other incriminating items were recovered from the suspects during their interception at strategic locations.
The arrests come against a backdrop of mounting anxiety among residents, triggered by the recurring discovery of bodies in secluded areas and a string of sporadic killings that had stoked fears across the state.
The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation as security operatives work to unravel the full extent of any criminal networks behind the attacks and identify possible accomplices.
The OPEP command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at dismantling criminal elements and restoring lasting peace across Plateau State.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and support security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence that could aid ongoing investigations.
