Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army operating from Patrol Base Okunran in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State have arrested a suspected logistics supplier linked to terrorist elements in the area.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 5:05pm on April 2 while allegedly transporting food items to armed groups operating within the locality.
Preliminary interrogation yielded significant disclosures. The suspect reportedly admitted not only to supplying food and other logistics to the terrorist group, but also to participating in the collection of ransom from relatives of kidnapped victims — pointing to a deeper involvement in the criminal network than a mere supply role.
Items recovered from him include a mobile phone, a pack of soft drink and a bucket of garri.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is being investigated ahead of possible prosecution. Troops have continued operations in the area aimed at severing the logistical lifelines that sustain terrorist activity in Kogi State.
