Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force, have successfully neutralised several high-ranking Boko Haram commanders in coordinated airstrikes in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.
According to Zagazola Makama, the airstrikes were carried out on December 25, 2025, following actionable intelligence on terrorist movements in the area.
The initial strike reportedly killed at least 10 terrorists, including Abul Kaka, Ibn Mu’azu, Abu Muhammad, Ba Alhaji, Bakura, Modu, Abu Hassan, Kaka Alai, Abba Yakariye, and Bamusa. Another militant, Ubaida, sustained serious injuries during the operation.
A follow-up strike by the Nigerian Air Force killed an additional three insurgents, further weakening Boko Haram’s presence in the region.
Security sources confirmed that most of the neutralised fighters were loyal to Bafu, a notorious Boko Haram commander operating in the Bama axis.
An assessment of the operation revealed a significant reduction in Boko Haram’s operational capability in Bama, particularly among forces under Bafu’s command.
While the overall security situation in the area remains calm, authorities warn that it is still unpredictable due to the fluid nature of insurgent activities.
