Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a terrorist and destroyed several hideouts and logistics structures during a follow-up operation at Chonogolo Kura in Borno State.
The action came after an airstrike targeting suspected terrorist enclaves in the area at about 10:40 a.m. on February 3.
Security sources said ground troops moved in around 12:45 p.m. to conduct a Battle Damage Assessment and evaluate the impact of the strike.
On arrival, soldiers observed that the area, which housed several newly established enclaves, had been significantly affected by the bombardment. The remaining fighters reportedly fled in different directions as troops advanced.
The operation led to the destruction of terrorist structures and further disruption of their activities in the area, as part of ongoing efforts to degrade insurgent networks across the North-East.
