Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have arrested a man, identified as Musa Ali, in Jos for impersonating a military officer and attempting to defraud members of the public.
According to a statement by OPSH Media Officer, Maj. Samson Zhakom, on Saturday, the suspect posed as a soldier and targeted the family of a notorious gunrunner currently in custody.
Ali allegedly collected ₦400,000 from the family, claiming he could halt investigations and secure the suspect’s release.
However, OPSH operatives uncovered the scam and apprehended him.
“This arrest reflects our commitment to professionalism, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption,” Zhakom said, adding that the suspect will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
He urged Plateau residents to remain vigilant and wary of fraudsters exploiting people with false claims.
