Troops, NDLEA arrest 12 drug dealers in Yobe

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have arrested 12 suspected drug dealers during a joint operation in Damagun Market, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The operation was carried out at about 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, by troops of the 233 Battalion Quick Reaction Force and personnel of the NDLEA Potiskum Area Command.

Security sources said the operation followed intelligence on suspected illicit drug activities within the market.

Twelve suspects were arrested, while assorted illicit substances were recovered from the area.

The suspects and recovered exhibits were subsequently handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The troops returned to their base at about 5:15 p.m. after the operation.

The joint action forms part of efforts by security and drug enforcement agencies to disrupt illicit drug networks and prevent their exploitation by criminal and terrorist groups in the North-East.

The Joint Task Force said the security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops continued to maintain operational readiness.
