Troops neutralise terrorist, recover rifle in Dalwa operation

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North-East Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during a clearance operation around Delwa and Tojiri villages in Borno State.

The operation, carried out on Wednesday in collaboration with local hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), followed a fighting patrol in the area.

Sources said the troops, who were deployed to Delwa, advanced toward Tojiri at about 9:00 a.m. when they came under fire from insurgents.

“The troops responded with heavy fire, neutralising one of the terrorists while the others escaped in disarray,” the source said.

A sweep of the general area led to the recovery of an FN rifle, two FN magazines loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, two Tecno mobile phones, and three sachets of illicit drugs.

No casualties were recorded on the side of the troops, the sources added.
