Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, alongside the Nigerian Police Force, have recovered and cleared a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) planted along a road in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out at about 1:55 p.m. on August 7 by troops of CSI Battalion VI/CT 2, Joint Task Force North West, deployed at Forward Operating Base Kaura Namoda.
The troops worked with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force to respond to a report of the suspected explosive device along the road in Jabanda village.
Military sources said the team located and safely cleared the device without incident.
Following the operation, the road was declared safe and reopened to motorists, restoring normal movement along the route.
The security forces have since continued operations in the area to protect commuters and residents and prevent further threats to public safety.
