Troops of the Nigerian Army’s Operation FANAN YANMA, working with personnel of the Mobile Strike Team, have repelled suspected terrorists along the Jengeru–Moriki road in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation took place at about noon on Friday following intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists around Kwanar Jolof.
Military sources said the troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists after making contact with them.
The troops’ superior firepower reportedly forced the attackers to withdraw from the area.
A subsequent search of the surrounding area led to the recovery of a motorcycle and several items, including two camouflage uniforms, a camouflage vest, a jungle hat, a mosquito net and a sleeping mat.
Following the operation, the troops maintained a strong presence along the route, restoring normal vehicular movement on the Jengeru–Moriki road.
The operation is part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and improve security along vulnerable routes in Zamfara State.
