Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division, operating under Operation FANSAN YANMA, have rescued 10 kidnapped women during a precision search-and-rescue mission in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims were abducted from their farms in Ungwan Nungu on November 29.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation followed several days of sustained tracking aimed at locating the kidnappers’ hideout.
At about 6:40 a.m. on Friday, troops intercepted the abductors as they attempted to collect ransom from relatives of the victims.
The soldiers opened fire, overwhelming the criminals and forcing them to abandon the captives and flee.
All 10 women were rescued unharmed.
The troops also recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition and ₦1.6 million, identified as part of the ransom the kidnappers were expecting.
The victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families.
Military operations are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
