Troops rescue 20 kidnapped victims, kill 2 terrorists in Zamfara

The troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, Nigerian Army, have rescued no fewer than 20 kidnapped victims and neutralised two terrorists in Zamfara State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Information Officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

Ibrahim noted that the troops rescued 20 kidnapped victims unhurt and neutralised two terrorists, including a notorious terrorists’ leader, identified as Sainaje, from Katsina State in separate operations conducted in Zamfara State.

He said the operations were carried out on terrorists’ enclaves at Rukudawa, Dumburum, Tsanu, Birnin Tsaba, Magare, and Shamushalle general areas of Zurmi and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of Zamfara State on Monday, January 29.

He said during the operation, all the discovered terrorists’ enclaves, including that of a notorious terrorist kingpin identified as Sule, were destroyed while other terrorists fled their camps during a heavy contact with the troops.

Ibrahim said: “The troops neutralised two terrorists including a terrorist leader identified as Sainaje from Katsina State which led to the rescue of 18 kidnapped victims comprising four males and 14 females as well as children.

“The troops also rescued two victims who were abducted by the terrorists while on transit along Shinkafi-Isa Road in State who were abandoned by their captors during a gun duel with the highly motivated troops whose timely response led to the rescue.

“All the rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate authorities to reunite them with their respective families.”

He quoted the Commander of Operation Hadarin Daji and General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, as commending the troops for their continued doggedness and resilience to restore normalcy in the North-West.
