Trump-lookalike buffalo spared from Eid sacrifice in Bangladesh

An albino buffalo in Bangladesh has been rescued from an impending Eid al-Adha sacrifice after drawing widespread attention for its striking resemblance to former U.S. President Donald Trump—particularly its unusual tuft of pale, flowing hair.

The nearly 1,500-pound animal, nicknamed “Donald Trump” by locals, had already been sold for slaughter when authorities stepped in at the last minute. Bangladesh’s Ministry of Home Affairs ordered that the buffalo be spared, the buyer refunded, and the animal relocated to a national zoo in Dhaka.

Officials said the decision was influenced by heightened public interest and potential security concerns, as crowds had been flocking to see the rare albino buffalo in recent days.

The animal was raised at Rabeya Agro Farm in Narayanganj, just outside the capital. Its former owner, Zia Mridha, said the buffalo had long attracted attention due to its distinctive blond fringe, which many compared to Trump’s iconic hairstyle.

Images of the animal went viral on social media, sparking memes, jokes, and an influx of visitors eager to catch a glimpse of the unusual creature.

Described as calm and well-cared for, the buffalo required special attention, including regular feeding and bathing routines.

Now spared from sacrifice, the so-called “Trump doppelganger” is expected to become a major attraction at the Dhaka zoo, where it will continue to draw curious onlookers long after the Eid festivities.
