U.S. President Donald Trump has stirred fresh controversy after sharing an AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus Christ on his Truth Social platform.
The image portrays Trump robed in white and bathed in radiant light, apparently performing a healing.
Figures resembling angels and soldiers are shown levitating around him, with fighter jets streaking across the sky, fireworks exploding overhead, and the Statue of Liberty visible in the background. Trump offered no caption or context with the post.
The image surfaces amid a deepening rift between Trump and Pope Leo XIV, who has repeatedly called for an end to escalating global conflicts and urged world leaders to pursue dialogue and restraint.
Trump has responded sharply, describing the pontiff as “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy,” and accusing him of holding politically motivated views on nuclear weapons and U.S. military actions.
Pope Leo XIV has not backed down, vowing to continue his anti-war advocacy and insisting that religious language must not be used to justify violence.
The Vatican has not responded specifically to the AI image. Trump has previously shared religious and symbolic imagery on social media, regularly attracting public debate and international attention.
