2023: Twitter users urge PDP to present Peter Obi/Kwankwaso presidential ticket

Thousands of Twitter users in Nigeria have urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to present former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and the former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as the party’s flag bearers for the 2023 presidential election.

Obi, the running mate of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election, via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, declared his intention to vie for the PDP presidential ticket, noting that he would run for the post of Nigeria’s President in 2023 if his party zones its ticket to the Southern region of the country.

This is just as Kwankwaso also declared his intention to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in the next year presidential election on the platform of major opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

It would be recalled that Kwankwaso was among the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants who contested against Buhari for the party’s ticket in 2015.

However, Nigerian tweeps have since taken to the micro-blogging site, urging the main opposition party to present the two heavyweight politicians as the presidential candidate and the running mate for the 2023 poll.

Some of the tweets read:

Meanwhile, the party primaries that would lead to the emergence of candidates are, however, expected to hold later in 2022.
