The United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a strong warning to Nigerians, cautioning that involvement in visa fraud could result in severe penalties, including a lifetime ban from entering the United States.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, the embassy urged visa applicants to avoid providing false information or submitting forged documents during the application process.
“Visa fraud has serious consequences.
Lying or providing fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans under U.S. immigration law,” the embassy said.
The warning was issued on the same day the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, met with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, to discuss bilateral relations and areas of continued cooperation between the two countries.
The embassy reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to its partnership with Nigeria, noting that the United States looks forward to strengthening collaboration on issues of shared interest.
