The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence has announced that its air force and air defence systems have intercepted and destroyed 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles and 541 drones since the start of the Iranian attack on February 28, 2026.
In a statement released on the second day of hostilities, the ministry said that UAE forces destroyed 20 ballistic missiles on Sunday morning alone, while eight others fell into the sea. Two cruise missiles were also intercepted and neutralised, alongside 311 drones.
However, 21 drones reportedly struck civilian targets.
According to the ministry, a total of 165 ballistic missiles launched from Iran towards the UAE have been detected since the attack began. Of these, 152 were destroyed mid-air, while 13 fell into sea waters. Both cruise missiles detected during the assault were successfully intercepted.
The statement further disclosed that 541 Iranian drones were identified, with 506 intercepted and destroyed. Thirty-five drones fell within the country, causing varying degrees of material damage.
The attacks have resulted in three fatalities involving Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals. Additionally, 58 people sustained minor injuries. Those affected include Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese and Afghan nationals.
The ministry noted that falling debris from intercepted ballistic missiles and drones caused minor to moderate damage to several civilian properties across different parts of the country.
It reaffirmed the operational capability and preparedness of the UAE air force and air defence forces to counter diverse threats, stressing that the safety of citizens, residents and visitors remains a non-negotiable priority.
“The Armed Forces are fully prepared to address any threats,” the ministry stated, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding national security amid the ongoing escalation.
