Uba Sani donates 39 vehicles to JNI, CAN, seeks prayers for re-election

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has donated 39 vehicles to Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Islamic sects and Christian denominations to support their activities, particularly peacebuilding and advocacy for peaceful elections

The governor, represented by his Director-General of Interfaith, Tahir Umar Tahir, said the donation was aimed at strengthening cooperation among religious groups and promoting peaceful coexistence.

Tahir also alleged that some politicians anticipating defeat in the coming elections were planning to disrupt public peace before, during and after the polls.

He recalled that the First Aid Group of Fityanul Islam had requested six buses to support its peacebuilding activities during its national seminar and award ceremony in August.

According to him, Sani initially promised four buses to the group, with two each for its national body and Kaduna State chapter.

However, the governor subsequently extended the donation to other religious organisations, including the Kaduna chapters of JNI and CAN, directing that each receive a Hummer bus.

Tahir said the governor also approved vehicles for other Islamic sects and Christian groups, including the Boys Brigade.

He added that religious organisations not covered in the current distribution would be considered in subsequent donations.

The interfaith director said Sani had maintained regular engagement with religious leaders since assuming office, including involving them in the distribution of government benefits such as free fertiliser and political appointments.

Appealing for prayers for the governor, Tahir cited Islamic and Christian teachings on praying for benefactors and leaders.

“We are asking for your prayers. We are pleading to you to pray for the Governor’s re-election because he will surpass the good things that he is doing in his second term,” he said.

Representatives of the Kaduna chapters of JNI and CAN thanked the governor for the vehicles and pledged to continue praying for peace and development in the state.
