The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has strengthened its political dominance following the defection of four members of the State House of Assembly, five House of Representatives members, and thousands of their supporters during a mega rally held on Saturday at Murtala Square, Kaduna.

With the latest defections, the APC now boasts 13 of the 16 federal lawmakers from Kaduna in the House of Representatives, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) retains only three. In the State House of Assembly, APC’s representation has risen to 26 members, leaving PDP with eight.

The rally was attended by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; Minister of Environment, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal; and Chairman of the North West Development Commission, Alhaji Lawal Samaila Yakawada, alongside thousands of party supporters.

Governor Uba Sani, in his address, welcomed the new members, assuring them of equal treatment within the party.
“Those who joined today will enjoy the same privileges as the founding members,” he said. “What matters most is your ability to connect with the grassroots and serve your people faithfully.”

He noted that APC’s steady growth in Kaduna reflects the government’s focus on fairness, justice, and inclusivity.
“When we came in, we decided to use our diversity as our strength. That’s why we haven’t witnessed any ethno-religious crisis in Kaduna State — an unprecedented achievement,” he stated.

Sani recalled that in 2023, APC had only four members in the House of Representatives but now holds 14 seats.
“Today, there’s virtually no opposition in Kaduna. I once told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu we would deliver 80 percent of the votes in 2027. But now, I can confidently say Kaduna will give APC 95 percent,” he declared.

The governor emphasized that development projects have been evenly distributed across the 23 local government areas of the state, adding that poverty, not politics or religion, should be the common enemy.

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe described the party as “the promised land” for Nigerian politicians and endorsed both President Tinubu and Governor Sani for second terms, citing their performance.

House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas also hailed APC’s political dominance in the state, saying, “Today, whether in Zone 1, Zone 2, or Zone 3, APC is the party to beat. We’ve never been this strong before.”

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Hussaini Jalo expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Sani for their leadership, declaring that “Kaduna is now a one-party state.”

Among those who defected are Hon. Sadiq Ango (Sabon Gari), Hon. Andulkarim Husseini Ahmad (Kaduna South), Hon. Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau), and Hon. Hussaini Jalo (Igabi).

Other notable defectors include former Senators Danjuma Lah, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, and Shehu Sani; former Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero; and PDP State Secretary, Hon. Saidu Adamu.
