Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, declaring that no community will be left behind in the execution of projects across the state.
The governor disclosed that his administration is currently constructing 140 road projects spanning all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, covering a total of 1,335 kilometres across the three senatorial districts.
Speaking on Saturday during the commissioning of the newly constructed asphalt road linking Durum and Kuruntumawa communities in Makarfi Local Government Area, Uba Sani said all the road projects were conceived and initiated by his government, while also assuring that inherited projects from previous administrations would be completed.
He emphasised that the roads are being built to standard specifications, noting that the Kuruntumawa–Durum road was initiated in September 2025 when he performed the groundbreaking ceremony, barely months before its completion.
“For many years, this community endured the burden of poor road infrastructure.
Farmers struggled to transport their produce, traders faced rising costs, students undertook unsafe journeys to school, and families experienced delays in accessing healthcare,” the governor said.
“These were not abstract figures; they were real stories I heard directly from you during town hall meetings and consultations,” he added.
According to the governor, the road project goes beyond asphalt and concrete, describing it as a vital lifeline that will ease access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities for residents of the area.
Uba Sani reiterated that his administration is fulfilling its campaign promise of rural transformation and inclusive governance, ensuring that both rural and urban communities receive equitable attention.
He noted that Makarfi Local Government Area was among 12 councils that had not benefited from even a single kilometre of road construction in the past 12 years, a situation his administration is determined to reverse.
The governor also announced that the long-abandoned Makarfi General Hospital has been remodelled and equipped with modern facilities, adding that it will be commissioned in the coming weeks.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, recalled that residents of Kuruntumawa had requested the construction of the road during the 2023 election campaign.
Dr Meyere said he assured them at the time that Uba Sani would construct the road if elected, noting that the governor had now fulfilled that promise.
He added that successive administrations over the past 30 years had failed to deliver the project, describing its completion as proof of the governor’s integrity, compassion, and commitment to the welfare of rural communities.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Makarfi Local Government Area, Hon. Garba Muhammad Sabon Gari, said the people of the area would remain grateful to the Uba Sani administration for the numerous development projects executed in the council.
He noted that the restoration of electricity to the local government was the governor’s first intervention, adding that the Durum–Kuruntumawa road was awarded and completed within three months.
