Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has assured residents that his administration will not resort to borrowing to finance infrastructure projects, pledging instead to complete all ongoing and abandoned projects before the end of his tenure.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday at the groundbreaking ceremony of a 16.5-kilometre asphalt road linking Kayarda Tasha, Kayarda Gari, Unguwan Sarki, Maskawa, and Dan Alhaji communities in Lere Local Government Area.
He described the road as unprecedented in the area and said it would be executed by a reputable construction firm.
Highlighting completed and ongoing projects, Sani listed the Rewa bridge in Gure and the Marjeri bridge as fully delivered, while the Tudai bridge is expected to be completed within two months.
He also disclosed interventions to restore electricity supply in Yarkasuwa, Kayarda, Ramin Kura, and Mariri towns.
Commending the governor’s commitment, the Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Abubakar Buba, described Sani as a leader who keeps promises.
He also expressed appreciation for the inclusion of Lere indigenes in government, citing Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu; Member representing Lere Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Munir; and the local council chairman, Hon. Jafaaru, among others.
In her remarks, Hon. Munira Tanimu said the road project was a campaign promise fulfilled and expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would replicate its recent electoral victories in the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, Hon. Ahmed Munir recalled Governor Sani’s youthful days in Saminaka, where he played football as a prolific striker for the Saminaka Celtics.
He likened the governor’s political career to his sporting past, saying he would “continue to be a striker in the political realm.”
