UK Prime Minister to Tinubu: I look forward to working with you

British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has congratulated Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu, for winning the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

Sunak said he is looking forward to working with Tinubu to develop the countries’ security and trade ties.

The Prime Minister said this via a tweet on his verified Twitter account on Wednesday.

“Congratulations to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in Nigeria.

“The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong. I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries,” Sunak stated.

Tinubu was announced the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the early hours of Wednesday.

Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 6,984,520 votes

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) polled 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 1,496,687 votes to occupy the third and fourth positions, respectively.
