Umahi mocks PDP, vows not to go back to Egypt

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has mocked his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the opposition party as Egypt.

“Nothing can take me back to Egypt, called PDP,” Umahi said.

The governor, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke during 2021 Special Thanksgiving Service of Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday.

Umahi made the remark against the backdrop of insinuation that he was begging to return to the PDP.

The governor, who described PDP as “Egypt”, repeated that he won’t return to the party.

“With all these enormous achievements I have made under the All Progressive Congress (APC); what will make me to go back to Egypt, called PDP?

“For that, I pray that God will never forgive the person who initiated the fake news that I have plans to go back to PDP,” he stated.

Umahi also lashed out at the spokesman of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Emma Powerful, for stating that the proscribed would lock down the South-East idf President Muhammadu Buhari visits Ebonyi.

The governor stated that Mr President is due for state visit early next year.

He added that preparations are in top gear to receive the president.

Umahi said: “I saw where one misguided element that calls himself IPOB spokesman, said Mr. President is not welcomed in Ebonyi. He is inconsequential.

“Mr. President will come when we want him to come. That IPOB guy is an inconsequential human being. If he is serious, let him hit the wall to Ebonyi State and let him see, if he would find feet to go back.

“Somebody will sit down somewhere and be talking rubbish and they will be misguiding our children to go and be killed; but, himself will not be at the war front.

“Any of them that will talk rubbish about security in South-East, should come and lead the war. And I will also lead the war for Ebonyi State. And like David, we will always kill Goliath.

“When they talk rubbish, just ignore them. This land belongs to God.”

On the thanksgiving Service, the Governor said that it was good to give thanks to God as state and country at large.

“It’s good to be grateful to God for His blessings to us as state and the country at large. As state, we have come first in several ways and we give Him the praises.

“Learn how to give good gift to God and it’s by thanksgiving that we can be blessed,” Umahi said.

Pastor (Mrs) Eunice Oyeyemi of Christ Embassy church, Government House Chapel, Abakaliki, stated that Ebonyi State was able to achieve all the existing developments because of God’s love and mercies.

Oyeyemi described Umahi as a “visionary and transformation leader.”

“Today, Sunday is a special day for thanksgiving for the government and everyone in the state.

“We are thanking God for peace, safety and calmness, we have enjoyed in spite of challenges.

“People should always be grateful and thankful to God and be prayerful for the leaders,” Oyeyemi said.
