Veekee James speaks on rumours of snatching husband

Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has revealed how rumours that she snatched her husband, Femi Atere, from a friend nearly pushed her into depression.

Speaking on The Nancy Isime Show alongside her husband, the 30-year-old designer said the claims took a heavy toll on her mental health, describing it as the first time she truly understood what depression felt like.

“There was one that really shook me. It was a story about how I stole him from a friend and that we were sleeping with each other, which were all lies.

“It almost put me into depression,” she said.

Veekee recalled locking herself in her room for two days, crying and praying until she found relief.

According to her, “The way God brought me out felt like a miracle.

After that, I developed thick skin to trolling and negative comments.”

The designer and Atere tied the knot on February 10, 2024, in a star-studded ceremony attended by celebrities including Juliana Olayode, Osas Ighodaro, Toke Makinwa, Priscilla Ojo, Pretty Mike, and Eniola Ajao.
