‘We shared bunk bed in school’: Otedola hosts Hamzat, hails Lagos APC candidate as ‘incoming governor’

Billionaire businessman and Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola, has hosted a private dinner in honour of Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as the “incoming governor” and a man of “the highest integrity.”

Otedola said this in a post on his X account on Monday, October 19, 2026.

He reflected on a friendship spanning nearly five decades, recalling that he and Hamzat shared a bunk bed during their boarding school days 49 years ago.

Otedola wrote: “Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State.

“A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago.”

The businessman said his long-standing relationship with Hamzat had consistently been shaped by the deputy governor’s personal values.

“My experience of his character over the years has been defined by his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles,” he added.

The dinner also brought together some of Nigeria’s leading business figures, including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu.
