Former House of Representatives member, Dachung Bagos, says the recent movement of politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to other parties — especially the All Progressives Congress (APC) — is happening because the PDP has failed to provide direction.
Bagos spoke on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief after announcing his own defection to the APC.
He explained that the defections are not driven by personal ambition, but by the search for a platform that can better represent citizens and tackle governance challenges.
According to him, the crisis in the PDP has become “irre redeemable,” forcing many leaders to seek alternatives that align with their political beliefs.
Bagos, who represented Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency between 2019 and November 2023, joined the APC on January 4, 2026, alongside several allies of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang — who also recently left the PDP for the ruling party.
He added that his decision was influenced by the APC’s policy direction, noting that issues like state police and local government autonomy being championed by President Bola Tinubu could strengthen governance at the grassroots.
Bagos said the ultimate goal is to open political space for ordinary citizens and encourage young people to participate in leadership.
