The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has granted property owners in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse districts a final 14-day grace period to pay a ₦5 million violation fee and other applicable charges for breaching approved land use terms.
According to a statement on Sunday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister, the grace period takes effect from Tuesday, November 11, 2025, after the initial 30-day deadline expired last month.
“Failure to comply within the 14-day grace period will result in enforcement actions by the FCT Administration,” the statement warned.
The directive follows earlier public notices published in September regarding the review of land use and purpose clauses for properties across key areas of the Federal Capital City (FCC).
The affected locations include Gana Street and Usuma Street in Maitama; Yakubu Gowon Crescent in Asokoro; Aminu Kano Crescent and Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent in Wuse II; as well as Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Gimbiya Street, and Onitsha Street in Garki II. Others are Ogbomosho Street, Lafia Close, Yola Street, Abriba Close, Danbatta Street, Ringim Close, and Ilorin Street in Garki I District.
The FCT Administration said allottees and title holders who altered the approved use of their properties without official authorization must visit the Department of Land Administration with original title documents and valid identification to regularize their status and collect their Letters of Conveyance of Approval.
Wike also approved the issuance of new title documents — including Statutory Rights of Occupancy and Certificates of Occupancy — reflecting the updated land use for a fresh 99-year term, upon full payment and compliance.
However, the statement clarified that the exercise does not apply to properties whose titles were revoked earlier for reasons such as non-development or non-payment of ground rent.
The FCTA reiterated its commitment to enforcing the city’s master plan and ensuring compliance with land administration regulations across the territory.
