Wike hails Gomani–Yangoji road, says project shows Tinubu’s rural focus

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Gomani–Yangoji road in Abuja, describing it as a key project aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Wike stated this on Thursday while inspecting the 13-kilometre road project, which is aimed at improving connectivity between satellite communities within the FCT.

He explained that the administration’s infrastructure strategy deliberately focuses on extending development beyond city centres to reduce rural–urban migration and improve access to underserved areas.

According to him, the Gomani–Yangoji road project follows earlier interventions such as the A2–Pai road, which was inaugurated by President Tinubu during his second year in office.

“Remember that when we came on board, one of the directives of Mr. President is that we should not concentrate development and provision of infrastructure only in the cities,” Wike said. “We must open up all the satellite towns in order to discourage rural–urban migration.”

The minister noted that the project, awarded to Zeberced Construction Company, had reached an advanced stage, with the bridge completed and drainage works nearly 95 per cent done. He added that installation of streetlights was ongoing.

Wike expressed optimism that the project would be ready for inauguration in June, during activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

He commended the contractor for maintaining quality standards and adhering to project timelines, describing the progress as encouraging.

“I commend the contractor, Zeberced, not only for providing quality jobs but also for keeping to the timeline,” he said.

The minister added that the completion of the road would further demonstrate the administration’s commitment to bringing development to satellite towns and improving infrastructure across the FCT.
