The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says he is not in battle with the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, described his successor as “my boy and son”.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, the minister said: “I am not fighting Sim. He is my boy; he is my son; How can I fight my own son?
Wike: I won’t contest against Tinubu in 2027
“I am fighting those who want to reap where they did not sow; people like Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara. I have defeated them before, and I will give them the final defeat. They are the ones pushing Fubara.”
Wike and Fubara have since been in a rift over the control of the political structure of Rivers State.
The development plunged Rivers State into a protracted crisis, with President Bola Tinubu suspending Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly for six months after declaring emergency rule in the state.
Tinubu also appointed a retired naval chief, Ibok-Ete Ibas, as sole administrator for the state.
