The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Professor Chituru Godwill Orluwene as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

Wike described the appointment as well deserved, noting that President Tinubu has once again demonstrated confidence in the competence of Rivers State indigenes for key federal positions.

He expressed appreciation to the President for what he described as his consistent show of goodwill towards Rivers State and its people.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister said the appointment reflected the President’s commitment to good governance and merit.

According to Wike, the choice of Prof Orluwene was “a round peg in a round hole,” urging the new CMD to deploy his wealth of experience to further improve the operations and service delivery of the teaching hospital in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
