The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has presented Abuja’s Smart City Vision to global leaders at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Wike said the vision is anchored on five key pillars — urban mobility, sustainability, public safety, digital governance, and economic empowerment — aimed at transforming Abuja into a world-class, technology-driven capital.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, the Minister highlighted ongoing collaborations with international and private partners, including JICA on smart water metering, China-supported intelligent traffic lights, and projects such as the Abuja City Walk and Abuja Industrial Park.

He explained that the FCTA’s initiatives include expanding transport networks, deploying smart streetlights and surveillance systems, digitizing land records, and promoting renewable energy and waste-to-wealth schemes.

Wike emphasized that the Smart City drive aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that Abuja’s modernization “is not only about technology, but about putting citizens at the center of development to build a safer, inclusive, and prosperous city.”
