The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, Wike has also approved the creation of a division within the Department of Land Administration to take over responsibilities relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses previously handled by the dissolved committee.
The secretariat was retained after the committee completed its assignments to address issues arising from its activities.
However, with its formal closure, the FCT Administration directed members of the public to henceforth channel all enquiries and matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses to the Department of Land Administration.
The administration also warned residents against fraudsters allegedly posing as staff, officers or members of the former committee and its secretariat.
“The Committee and Secretariat no longer exist,” the statement said, urging members of the public to be vigilant when dealing with individuals claiming to represent the defunct body.
