FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to support the judiciary with investments aimed at boosting productivity, reducing case delays, and enhancing judicial independence.
Speaking at the opening of the 2025/2026 Legal Year of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, Wike announced new budgetary provisions for additional residential housing for FCT High Court judges to address accommodation gaps.
He noted that the FCTA has handed over the Certificate of Occupancy for the Supreme Court’s land and begun full perimeter fencing of the apex court complex to improve security and prevent encroachment.
He described the intervention as long overdue and a major confidence booster for the judiciary.
Wike also highlighted several ongoing projects: secure residences for Heads of Courts in the FCT, a new Magistrate Court Complex in Jabi, staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School, and new complexes and residences for justices of the Court of Appeal, National Industrial Court, and Federal High Court in Abuja.
He said the administration will push for speedy completion of these projects and work with courts to digitise proceedings and registries to improve efficiency.
“Justice must never be compromised,” Wike said, expressing confidence that the new legal year would bring improved performance across the judiciary.
