Wike’s aide hits back at Sowore: Life of scams catching up with you

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Omoyele Sowore’s claim that President Bola Tinubu and Wike were plotting to assassinate him, describing it as a “mind game” to sustain what he called Sowore’s “life of scams.”

In a statement on Saturday, Olayinka accused the SaharaReporters publisher of being haunted by past fraudulent dealings and urged him to focus on his ongoing criminal trial.

He challenged Sowore to produce the alleged court judgment convicting President Tinubu, which he frequently cites.

The FCT minister’s aide further alleged that Sowore had a history of questionable transactions, including collecting over $3 million in 2019 to sell the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship ticket in Rivers State, pocketing an #EndSARS grant meant for another activist, and mismanaging foreign donor funds intended for journalism training.

He also accused him of using SaharaReporters for blackmail while keeping staff poorly paid.

“If there is any threat to Sowore’s life, it must be from those he has scammed or blackmailed.

He should leave President Tinubu and Wike out of it,” Olayinka said, adding that Sowore’s recent criticisms of Wike were “the last kicks of a dying horse.”

He maintained that Sowore’s allegations about Wike’s family owning U.S. properties were not criminal, insisting that Sowore was only trying to distract from his own controversies.

“He can only hide under ‘cashtivism’ for a while; soon, he will get to the end of his scamming wit,” Olayinka declared.
