Wike’s aide mocks Obi: FCTA not operating Anambra beer parlour devt

The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has mocked former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, describing his recent comments on the state of FCT schools as attention-seeking and baseless.

Olayinka, in a statement issued on Thursday, October 16, 2025, said the FCT Administration under FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was not operating the kind of “mad man advice induced beer parlour development” that Obi allegedly ran during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.

He stated that while Obi was known for media grandstanding, the FCTA under Wike was focused on “real and verifiable development,” noting that 73 schools are currently being renovated across the six Area Councils of the FCT, with 21 already completed.

Olayinka’s remarks followed Obi’s visit to LEA Primary School, Kapwa, Abuja, where the former governor criticised the poor condition of public schools in the FCT, calling it a “national disgrace” that undermines Nigeria’s commitment to education.

Responding, Olayinka admitted that some schools in the FCT still require attention but insisted that Wike’s administration had made tangible progress.

“Unlike Obi, who did nothing to uplift the education sector as Governor of Anambra State, the Wike-led FCTA has been building and renovating schools. 102 contracts have been awarded for renovation of schools in the FCT, and as at today, 21 schools have been completely renovated and works are ongoing in others,” Olayinka said.

He challenged Obi to name the schools he built during his eight years as governor, alleging that Anambra State “is still suffering from Obi’s eight years of misgovernance.”

“If as governor he had performed the magic he keeps lying to Nigerians about, Anambra would have become a reference point for development,” Olayinka added.

The minister’s aide further accused Obi of hoarding the state’s funds in his personal bank rather than investing in critical infrastructure such as education, health, and roads.

Mocking Obi’s political relevance, Olayinka described him as an “Internally Displaced Politician (IDP)” who has turned into a “political wanderer” seeking refuge in media attention.

He said: “It is funny that someone who should be bothered that he does not have a platform to contest the 2027 election, has turned himself to a political wonderer.”

Olayinka asked; “Under which party is Mr One Shoe contesting the 2027 presidential election? Will any party still award its presidential candidate to him simply because he can lie about having one shoe and one wrist watch the way the Labour Party did in 2023?”
