Wilfred Ndidi has been thrown into mourning following the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who died in a road accident in Delta State.
It was gathered that Sunday, a retired soldier, was involved in an accident in Umunede and later pronounced dead at a hospital in Agbor, Delta State, on Tuesday.
Ndidi’s Turkish club, Besiktas, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in a statement shared on X.

The club stated: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident.
“May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.”
This comes shortly after Ndidi captained Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where he also scored his first international goal.
