Windstorm damages Kugbo Bus Terminal, Nyanya Bridge in Abuja

A windstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall has damaged parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal and the Nyanya pedestrian bridge in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the FCT Minister’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, disclosed that the windstorm, which occurred on Tuesday, also affected some buildings in the Nyanya area.

Olayinka noted that preliminary reports revealed that no casualties were recorded and no vehicle was damaged during the incident.

He said the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate deployment of security personnel to the scene to maintain law and order and ensure the free flow of traffic.

He added that Wike also ordered prompt repairs of the damaged structures to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
