Wizkid: My mother’s death deepest pain I’ve ever felt

Popular Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, fondly called Wizkid, has described the death of his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, as the deepest pain he has ever felt in life.

Balogun died on August 18, 2023, at the age of 66.

The cause of her death was however not disclosed.

Speaking at his mother’s wake-keep in Lagos on Thursday, Wizkid added that the pain of losing his mum ‘hurts deeply’.

The singer said: “The pain is profound. It hurts deeply. The deepest pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m lost but I pray God will comfort everyone of us.

“I’m lost without you mum, I love you so much.”

Meanwhile, Balogun was on Friday, October 13, laid to rest in Lagos.

Her funeral service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David in the Victoria Island area of Lagos.

Balogun, who was born on July 14, 1957, is survived by her husband, Muniru Olatunji Balogun, and four children.

Her children are Wizkid, Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, and Olubusayo Balogun.
